This mission of the United Regional Foundation is to enhance United Regional's ability to provide excellence in health care through philanthropy and stewardship.
There are many ways to make a gift in support of healing and saving lives through United Regional Foundation and Children's Miracle Network. Here are a number of ways you can make a difference in the health of our community.
CURRENT GIFTS
Cash - a cash gift by check is one of the most common and easiest methods for making an outright contribution. You will receive a charitable deduction if you itemize on your tax return and you will see the immediate results of your generosity.
Securities - If you contribute appreciated securities held more than one year, you will find you are able to make significant gifts and avoid being taxed on the gain.
PLANNED OR LEGACY GIFTS
Gifts for the future help support excellence in health care for all the communities served by United Regional. Your help is needed as we plan the many facility improvements, new programs, and equipment purchases necessary to touch and improve lives in north Texas and southern Oklahoma.
A planned gift is one legally provided for during the donor's lifetime, but whose principal benefits do not accrue to the charity until some time in the future such as the death of the donor and/or the income beneficiary or at some specific date. United Regional Foundation would be grateful to accept a wide variety of planned or legacy charitable gifts, the most common of which are briefly described below.
Bequests- The most common form of gift planning, a bequest is a gift of an asset through a donor's will. The amount of the bequest is not included in the donor's taxable estate. Your will may designate a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the residue of your estate.
Life Insurance - You may include United Regional Foundation as sole beneficiary or a percentage beneficiary of an existing policy or name United Regional Foundation as the new owner of a paid up policy.
Pension Funds - Naming United Regional as the beneficiary of your pension or IRAs or making the Foundation the beneficiary through the "Pay on Death" provision of certificates of deposit and savings accounts are additional ways of making gifts that take effect after your death.
Charitable Remainder Trusts - To secure a fixed and often increased income, you may wish to consider a charitable remainder trust.
Charitable Lead Trust - This gift will provide income for United Regional Foundation for a certain period of time and then allow you to pass assets to children or grandchildren while reducing gift and estate taxes.
Retained Life Estate - Give your personal residence or ranch now but continue to live there.
LEGACY CIRCLE
The Legacy Circle is made up of individuals and families whose estate plans, in any amount, include United Regional Foundation, the Children's Miracle Network, or Rathgeber Hospitality House.
While receiving an unexpected bequest or estate gift at the Foundation is wonderful, we are often saddened that we did not have the opportunity to thank someone whose generosity and foresight will make a difference in the lives of many others. By sharing your plans with United Regional Foundation, you can be assured now that your gift will be used according to your wishes when the time comes.
Acknowledgment of your estate gift can be as customized as your estate plan - from a one-time letter thanking you for your thoughtfulness to the opportunity to enjoy Legacy Circle recognition and gatherings with presentations by nationally recognized speakers.
