Patient’s Guide

We want every patient’s hospital stay to be as comfortable and convenient as possible.

That’s why we have designed this website to answer most of the questions you have about United Regional and highlight the services that are available.

Our Pledge to You

At United Regional, our goal is to provide patients, families and visitors with compassionate care and professional service. The hospital is dedicated to improving the health of the communities we serve and providing state–of–the–art technologies and facilities for our patients. Our employees are skilled, caring healthcare professionals and our medical staff is composed of highly qualified physicians. We are committed to maintaining a clean, comfortable and safe environment for patients, their families and visitors.

Employees of United Regional who have direct contact with patients maintain current licensure and certification. For those employees not directly related to patient care, the hospital hires people whose qualifications are commensurate with their job responsibilities. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and hire without regard to sex, race, creed, or national origin. If you decide to entrust us with your care, it will be our pledge to provide you with the greatest possible level of care.

A patient relations coordinator is available to help you make your hospital stay more enjoyable.

Feel free to call and ask for assistance. You have a right to register complaints regarding the quality of care you receive at United Regional or services that fall short of your expectations. To do so, call the patient relations department, Monday through Friday during normal business hours, at the number listed below:

Spiritual Care

Entering a hospital is more than a crisis of health; it is a crisis of hope, and purpose, and life. As a patient, you may feel fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger, and worry — for yourself,and often for your loved ones as well. Tending to these emotional and spiritual needs is important to all of us at United Regional, and it represents the kind of excellence in health care we strive to give.

The Pastoral Care Department supports our patients and their loved ones during these crises of health and life and supports our staff working with you at your bedside and throughout our system. We are here to help you access your spiritual beliefs, traditions, and practices in order to gain comfort, strength, and courage during those crises.

Whether formally affiliated with a religious tradition or not, all of us share the needs of:

(1) finding meaning and purpose in life;
(2) generating hope as a resource for crisis and for daily living;
(3) establishing and nurturing meaningful relationships in life which enhance our emotional and physical health; and
(4) dealing with life’s hurts, anger, bitterness and challenges through experiences with forgiveness.

Our chaplains are here to support you so that these needs are acknowledged and met. We can offer:

  • Our presence bedside or with family gathered in the hospital
  • To listen
  • Guidance through the grief process
  • Comfort, counsel and prayer
  • Help with religious rituals
  • To enlist local clergy who can best meet your spiritual needs
