Prepared Childbirth - Condensed Class

Event Description:
This condensed course is designed for expectant parents who desire a one day course rather than a 5 week course. The course offers instruction on the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and preparing for labor and delivery through modified breathing exercises, stages of labor, pain management, birth and recovery, newborn care as well as baby check-ups. Expectant parents will view birthing films, receive take home literature and tour the hospital. Participants will need to bring two pillows to the class and dress comfortably. Course fee is $30 per couple. Other courses, to be held in 2010, are: September 11 October 2 November 6 December 4

Basics of Breastfeeding

Event Description:
This course offers instruction in the art of breastfeeding. Topics include correct positioning and latching-on, frequency, proper nutrition while breastfeeding, preparation for going back to work and creative problem solving. After delivery, individualized instruction will be available by a certified lactation consultant in the hospital. The husband or support person is encouraged to attend the class with the mother-to-be. Course fee: $20 per couple. Future courses will be held on: September 14 October 12 November 9 December 7


Infant CPR

Event Description:
This CPR class follows the newest self-directed course CPR Anytime from the American Heart Association. The partcipants will receive an inflatable learning manikin along with an instructional DVD and other teaching materials. This kit can then be used at home to teach other family members, babysitters or to refresh skills. Infant choking and other child safety and injury prevention are also covered. The course fee is $35 per couple. Other class will be offered on: October 19 December 14
