United Regional Benefits

Health Plan — Medical & Prescription & Dental

United Regional offers a generous benefits plan including medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage to full–time and part–time employees. Employees pay a small portion of the plan premium each pay period, and United Regional covers most of the plan premium cost. Employees and their families are encouraged to use United Regional for services and are provided the best benefit coverage here. For medical services and physician specialists not available at United Regional, employees will find very good plan coverage.

Employee Wellness

United Regional is committed to improving the health of its employees. Each year and throughout the year, employees are encouraged to participate in lab screenings, onsite fitness classes, nutrition counseling and education opportunities as well as other events and tools. Employees participating in the screenings and making efforts to improve their health are also eligible for a reduction in their health plan premiums. By partnering with SimplyWell and our own disease management & wellness staff, United Regional provides each employee the opportunity and incentive to live healthier lives.

Retirement Plan

The United Regional 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan enables employees to save for the future and enjoy a tax break at the same time. After one year of employment and 1,000 worked hours, employees contributing to the retirement plan will receive a 100% match from United Regional each pay period, up to a maximum of 6% of their salary.

Flexible Spending Accounts

The Flexible Benefit program allows employees to pay for medical and dental coverage under the Employee Health Plan with pre-tax salary dollars. Health Care Reimbursement (HCR) and Dependent Care Reimbursement accounts are also available for pre-tax reimbursements of dependent (daycare) care expenses and certain medical and dental expenses. Health Care Reimbursements are made easy & affordable with the Benny Card, a pre-paid credit card tied directly to your HCR account.

School to Work

United Regional encourages employees to pursue a nursing degree by providing 100% financial assistance. Work flexibility and educational assistance allow employees to attend school while maintaining full-time pay and benefits. The employee, in return, agrees to remain employed at United Regional for a specified period of time after graduation.

Tuition Reimbursement

United Regional encourages continuing education and will financially assist employees pursuing associate, bachelor, and master degrees in specified areas beneficial to the System.

Paid Time Off

Paid time off (PTO) is accrued each pay period by full–time and part–time employees and may be used for vacation, holidays, personal illness and other personal reasons.

Short–Term Disability

Short–Term Disability (STD) is provided, at no cost, to full–time and part–time employees who have been employed by the system for at least 1 year and have worked 1,250 hours in the previous year. STD benefits provide up to 70% of employees regular base pay to eligible employees who are unable to work due to illness or injury.

Long–Term Disability

In the event of an extended period of illness or injury, full-time and part-time employees are provided, at no cost, a long-term disability (LTD) insurance to replace up to 60 percent of basic monthly earnings, providing valuable financial peace of mind.

Life Insurance

United Regional provides Basic Life insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment equal to one time the basic annual salary to both full–time and part–time employees. Additional Life and AD&D may be purchased by the employee to a maximum of three times his or her salary. Dependent Life Insurance is optional and provides coverage for the employee’s spouse and dependent children.

Cancer Expense Insurance Plan

United Regional offers a supplemental Cancer Expense Plan to full–time and part–time employees. The levels of benefits payable are determined according to the level of benefits selected by the employee, and benefits are paid directly to the employee for medical and non-medical cancer-related costs.
