Community Service
Providing medical care and health education is only part of how United Regional supports our community. We contribute in numerous ways to community organizations and events with volunteer manpower and monetary donations.
In addition to the programs listed, many employees give their personal time and resources as members of community organizations, their boards, committees and projects. And each year, through our Spirit of Giving Campaign, Spirit of Giving Campaign, our employees have the opportunity to donate to organizations in our community such as Hands to Hands, United Way, Children’s Miracle Network and the Rathgeber Hospitality House. In 2022, employees gave more than $306,000 to the campaign.
These are just a few of the ways we serve our community through volunteer manpower:
Blood Drives
United Regional hosted 6 blood drives in the facility for employees and community members to donate blood. The blood drives collected 455 units of blood.
Community Education Seminars
Physicians on the medical staff of United Regional present live presentations as well as Facebook Live events on the medical and surgical specialty services available to them. Topics range from joint replacement to urological conditions to bariatric surgery to general health and wellness.
Drug Take-Back Event
In 2022, United Regional, in conjunction with the Wichita Falls Police Department, hosted a Drug Take-Back event, coordinated by Trauma Services, in which the public was invited to securely drop off unwanted or expired medications, needles and syringes. The community responded by bringing in 292 pounds of medications making their homes safer from accidental and intentional medication misuse.
Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred
United Regional is the medical provider for the Hotter’n Hell Hundred. United Regional provided the medical supplies and medical oversight for the 18 medical stops along the 100-mile Bike Ride/Race. United Regional employees staffed 4 of the 18 medical tents along the route. In addition, the United Regional Medical Steering Committee hosted an educational event for the physicians, nurses, technical, and clerical staff assisting in the medical tents to prepare them for the medical aspects of the event. United Regional provides approximately 200 volunteers annually to this event.

Leadership Wichita Falls
We sponsor and host Health Day for the Leadership Wichita Falls adult and youth classes class to educate them on the services and technology available at our hospital.
Mobile Pantry
United Regional in partnership with the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank works to improve the health of our community. The Food Bank operates a Mobile Pantry, donated in part by United Regional, and provides food boxes to the those deemed food insecure while hospital staff provide blood sugar and blood pressure checks. If needed, staff also arrange same-day appointments to the hospital’s Transitional Care Clinic for emergent needs. In 2022, the pantry provided 6,059 food boxes to those in need.
Senior Focus / Drive Through Flu Clinic
In October in conjunction with KFDX TV3, United Regional hosted a free Flu Shot Drive Through Clinic for Senior Adults and provided flu shots to more than 350 seniors during the event.

Volunteer Difference Makers
United Regional employees go out into the community to serve organizations in need through a volunteer program at the hospital called Difference Makers. With a spirit of service, comradery and desire to fill a need, these groups are serving organizations such as the Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Faith Mission, and many more.
