Wichita Falls Waterfall: Built in 1986 to replace the falls, which washed away in a flood more than 100 years ago, the present 54-foot man-made waterfall is a multi-level cascade on the south bank of the Wichita River. Enjoy the trails, playground, pool and pavilions at connecting Lucy Park.
Wichita Theater & Opera House: Originally built in 1908, this State Register Historical Landmark has been refurbished to its previous splendor, preserving every historical detail, including the original ceiling murals. In this nostalgic setting you can now experience country, comedy, gospel, and patriotic.
Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre: Founded in 1963, this ballet company has been under the artistic direction of Gari Boehm and Patricia Thornton since 1988. The season includes The Nutcracker in December, “An Afternoon with the Arts” in April, guest performers, school demonstrations and benefits. This company has earned “Honor Company” status with the Southwestern Regional Ballet Association for the past nine years.
Wichita Falls Museum & Art Center: Art, science and history exhibitions change frequently including regularly scheduled Planetarium and Laser shows. This Museum features “Imagination Texas” which is a permanent exhibit for children. Magic Touch, a hands-on science gallery for children; a discovery center; and two art galleries, featuring traveling exhibits and exhibits from the museum collection, can be found here.
The Kell House: Built in 1909 by Frank Kell, one of the city’s founders, this home is now a Texas Historic Landmark. The house, including original family furnishings, is maintained by the Wichita Falls County Heritage Society.
Falls Fest: Falls Fest is an annual celebration with an emphasis on family fun and entertainment. The festival features continuous entertainment, games, and an abundance of food vendors, artists, and craftsmen who display, demonstrate and sell their works. At Falls Fest, you can find mouthwatering food, skill testing games, athletic activities, and the largest outdoor concerts in Wichita Falls. In fact, Falls Fest has become known for its ability to attract top name entertainers, as well as showcase a variety of local musical talent.
Wichita Falls Symphony: More than 70 members perform a full season of concerts each year at the Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium. For nearly 50 years, the orchestra has been performing a variety of works for Wichita Falls audiences. A special Children’s Concert Series is also offered.
The Wichita Falls Railroad Museum: The site of the former Union Station features fourteen units of large rolling stock plus eight small units, such as motorcars and features several pieces from the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy) Railroad.
