Robotic Surgery

Along with treating other common urological conditions, we perform other minimally invasive robotic procedures including:

Partial Nephrectomy (partial kidney removal)-

This minimally invasive procedure safely removes small kidney tumors while preserving healthy tissue. Compared to traditional laparoscopy, robotic surgery offers two key advantages:

• A binocular camera provides depth perception for precise, 3D navigation.
• Robotic arms with seven degrees of freedom allow for accurate suturing with minimal tissue manipulation.

Radical Nephrectomy (complete kidney removal)-

When a kidney tumor is too large or located in a way that prevents partial removal, our specialists may recommend a robotic radical nephrectomy—a procedure that removes the entire kidney. This minimally invasive surgery offers many of the same benefits as robotic partial nephrectomy, including:

• Less trauma to the body
• Shorter recovery time compared to open surgery

Prostatectomy (prostate removal)-

Using finely controlled robotic instruments, our surgeons operate through small incisions with enhanced precision and visibility.
Compared to traditional surgery, robotic technology offers:

• Improved visualization with 3D depth perception
• Greater dexterity with instruments that move in all directions

Ureteral reconstruction/reimplantation (repairing tubes from bladder to kidneys)-

Prostate Health

United Regional is the only facility in Wichita Falls equipped with the UroNav MR/Ultrasound Fusion Biopsy System. This advanced imaging technology provides a more accurate approach to prostate biopsy and helps bypass the chance of false negatives.

Can urologists help with an overactive bladder?

An overactive bladder can be disruptive but effective treatment is available. Many patients find relief through oral medications or Botox injections into the bladder muscle, which typically last six to eight months. For those who don’t respond to these therapies, United Regional offers additional advanced solutions tailored to your needs:

• Percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation 
  Electrical signals are sent to the a nerve in the ankle to interrupt signals that overstimulate the bladder in a quick minimally invasive outpatient therapy
• Interstim implantable device
  Working like a bladder pacemaker, the Interstim regulates nerve signals to reduce urgent urinary signals and incontinence. This device is implanted near the tailbone for long term relief for both men and women.
