Become a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

You can be an important part of the health care team!

If you are interested in science and research, a career in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) may be perfect for you!

With the use of precision instruments and electronic equipment, a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) provides vital information used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Responsibilities of a MLS include sample analysis and interpretation, evaluation of results, and validation of data obtained in the several clinical laboratory disciplines.

Combining the challenges and rewards of science and medicine, areas of scientific exploration are open to you such as Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Hematology, and Clinical Immunohematology.

Applicants must possess a degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field with the required biology and chemistry courses from affiliated or non-affiliated universities, OR be eligible for a Bachelor of Science degree in MLS or Biology, Chemistry, or related field with emphasis on MLS from an affiliated university upon completion of the United Regional program.

United Regional’s School of MLS is a 52-week program and must be completed in order to be eligible for certification examinations or employment as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
