United Regional Announces New Heart Center, Expands Cardiology Team

United Regional is proud to announce the launch of the United Regional Heart Center, formerly known as the Heart Clinic, located at 1631 11th Street. While the name is new, patients can expect the same trusted physicians, the same convenient location, and the same commitment to excellence and compassionate care.

As part of this expansion, United Regional also welcomes Dr. Andre Desire, Dr. Fardin Djafari, and Dr. Vedampattu Ganeshram to United Regional Physician Group (URPG). Having been trusted members of our medical community for decades, now with URPG, these cardiologists will continue seeing patients at their current location, ensuring continuity of care for both existing and new patients.

With these additions, United Regional’s Cardiology service line grows from one physician to four. Dr. Chukwudi Obiagwu, who joined United Regional in the summer of 2025, remains a key part of the team, with additional cardiology physicians expected to join later this year.

The United Regional Heart Center location offers comprehensive cardiac care and is part of a broader, integrated heart program that also includes cardiothoracic surgeons Dr. Shahab Akvan and Dr. Patrick Roughneen, who also joined United Regional in 2025, as well as Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation services.

“We’re excited to have these highly respected cardiologists join United Regional Physician Group at a time of meaningful growth for the organization,” said Michael Gardner, Director of United Regional Physician Group Surgical Services. “The United Regional Heart Center reflects our long-term commitment to providing high-quality, coordinated heart care right here in Wichita Falls.”

Patients may also begin to notice updated signage at various locations, including the former Heart Clinic and the exterior of United Regional’s Bethania Building. These updates reflect the continued growth and alignment of United Regional’s services. While names and signage may change, the care patients know and trust remains the same.

United Regional remains committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care — right here at home — while continuing to grow services to meet the needs of the region.
