Children’s Miracle Network at United Regional
Through generous community donations and fundraising events, CMN supports the purchase of specialized equipment and the development of essential programs across multiple departments — including Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, Emergency Services, and more. Every dollar raised locally stays local, directly benefiting children treated at United Regional. From miracle meals and juvenile diabetes programs to advanced neonatal beds and therapy services, CMN funding ensures that families can access high-quality care close to home.

			A Tiny Miracle Named Liam
Cornerstone, Spring 2025
Amanda Outenreath was astonished to discover she was five months pregnan
t at the age of 41. After enduring years of infertility and being told they had only a 1% chance of conceiving, Amanda and her husband were blessed with their miracle son, Liam “Leo” Ethan. During her pregnancy, Amanda faced a serious health crisis that led her to United Regional. Her beloved baby boy was born two months prematurely, weighing just 3 pounds, 5 ounces, and spent 55 days in the Level II Special Care Nursery, gradually growing stronger each day.
While by Liam’s side, Amanda noticed a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) label on specialized equipment that was helping her tiny son. “I always donated to CMN at places like Walmart, but I never understood the impact until I experienced it firsthand,” she said. In addition to life-saving equipment, the first teddy bear Liam received, a simple gift from CMN, became a symbol of hope for her family.
Amanda was profoundly grateful she and Liam could stay at home at United Regional. She reflected on how difficult it would have been if Liam had needed to go to a larger city for care. “I wonder how families make it when their babies are so far away from home. It would be so hard to be separated from your child. How do parents balance the bills, the responsibilities, and the emotional strain of being hours away from their little one?”
United Regional’s care team made all the difference. Amanda credits the nurses and doctors not only for saving her and Liam’s lives but for providing unwavering compassion. “They were incredible. You don’t realize how important those people are until you need them.
Now 8 years old, Liam is thriving—healthy, strong, and full of life. Amanda’s journey through her son’s earliest days taught her several things: how a well-prepared, skillful healthcare facility profoundly changes lives; the generosity of donors to CMN makes an impactful difference, and the unwavering strength of a mother’s love, coupled with that of caring nurses and doctors, makes an unstoppable team.
