United Regional’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, recognizing our excellence in cardiopulmonary care. Completion of our 18-week program is associated with reduced hospitalizations, improved quality of life, and increased activity tolerance.
                    Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Certification
Since 2016, United Regional’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program has received national certification annually from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification process recognizes programs that have been reviewed by the AACVPR national board and found to have met the rigorous requirements for standards of care.

Eligibility Criteria
If medically necessary, your physician may order a pulmonary function test (PFT). Based on the results and a qualifying diagnosis, you may be eligible to enroll in United Regional’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.
Scope of services and conditions treated:
- Asthma
 - Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
 - Emphysema
 - Interstitial lung disease
 - Post-COVID conditions
 - Sarcoidosis
 
Program features:
- 18-week monitored exercise sessions (on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
 - Initial evaluation and individualized exercise prescription
 - Education on respiratory health and lifestyle management
 
Exercise components:
- Breathing techniques
 - Light weight-training
 - Equipment, including the treadmill, NuStep, recumbent elliptical, and upper body ergometer bike
 
Education topics:
- Anatomy of the lungs
 - Nutrition
 - Oxygen use and equipment cleaning
 - Pulmonary medications
 - Pursed lip breathing
 - Respiratory disease process
 - Smoking cessation
 - Stress management
 - Work simplification
 
Maintenance Program
The maintenance program equips patients with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to maintain a long-term fitness routine — whether at a gym or at home — supporting continued progress toward improved respiratory health and overall wellness.
- Available to phase II graduates
 - Two one-hour sessions weekly for up to two months
 - $50/month (self-pay)
 - Supports long-term fitness at home or in a gym

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is offered on the second floor of the Heart Clinic, 1631 11th Street, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301. Services are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
