Antepartum Rooms
Antepartum refers to the period of time before labor, in which we will monitor both mother and child before labor. United Regional has five antepartum rooms which include:
- Fetal monitoring that transmits to a centralized board, allowing staff to monitor fetal well-being from multiple locations.
 - A patient bed and a single pullout chair that converts to a bed.
 - A private bathroom.

The Magical Time
The first 60 to 90 minutes after birth is often called the Magical Time—a special window when you and your baby begin to bond in a powerful way.
During this time, we encourage visitors to give parents space to enjoy these first quiet moments together. It’s a time for skin-to-skin contact, eye gazing, and the beginning of a lifelong connection. For more information about "The Magical Time" download our pamphlet.

Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
While we are currently equipped with a Level II special care nursery United Regional is working toward an exciting goal: transforming our Level II Special Care Nursery into a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This expansion will allow us to care for even more of our community’s tiniest patients—right here at home.
Our Level II Special Care Nursery continues to provide expert care for infants born at 30 weeks or later and weighing more than 1,250 grams. These babies may have conditions that are expected to resolve quickly or need extra support due to physiological immaturity.
The NICU unit will enable us to care for babies born as early as 26 weeks gestation. The transition will also include expanding the current nursery, acquiring new equipment, and recruiting additional staff. Click here to learn more.
Our Level II Special Care Nursery team includes:
- Pediatricians
 - Registered nurses
 - Respiratory therapists
 - Rehabilitation specialists
 - Neonatal nutritionists

We work together to ensure you, and your baby receive specialized care — right here in our community.
